Some nice sessions have happened in the last few weeks, which has been wonderful! Tunes in the Crane Bar on Sea Road on a Saturday evening, and I was delighted to play some tunes last Sunday in Oranmore in Glynn’s with Jerry Mullvehill (banjo and mandolin) and with James Donohue on guitar and songs. And some lovely contributions from ‘the locals’…. and since I took a wrong turn leaving Oranmore, I ‘discovered’ a lovely backroad home, which was a nice surprise. Galway Bay looking astonishing this evening. On the road to Furbo for a session in Padraigin’s tonight….
Hi all, got a nice surprise call yesterday from the wonderful Geraldine Clancy to play a session with herself and brilliant guitarist Kevin Hough in Monroe’s in Galway this Friday afternoon, 4.30pm. Looking forward to the tunes! :-
Hi all, finally back to playing some sessions around the Galway area since last weekend, which has been a treat! Please see some more upcoming ones in the gig Calendar.
Meanwhile, If you’d like to help Ukrainian’s in need you can drop humanitarian aid items to collection points listed here:

Well, we had some wonderful sessions over the weekend back in Padraigin’s and in Barna, as well as some very enjoyable tunes in Athenry in the Arches and in Kinvara, and as far as Kilfenora in the lovely County Clare! great to be back out and about, catching up with friends and fellow musicians! And very excited to be playing this beautiful venue in Germany in June of 2021!
Happy to share the link for my talk on the Changing Soundscape of Irish traditional music in Galway during the 1960s and 1970s for NUI Galway’s Spring Lunchtime Series earlier this year
